At St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, we answer our Lord's call to pray, reconcile, and offer help and hope to those in need.

Samaritans

The Samaritans of St. Augustine’s, originally The Young Adults, was organized in 1979 by those members in their “20’s”.  They had the goal of service to the church and community. Their monthly meetings rotated among the members homes, with opportunities for socializing afterward.  The Samaritans continue to sponsor fund-raisers to support outreach programs within the church and the community. They sponsored: Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets and an Angel Tree for underprivileged children in the church and community. They make special presentations and hold receptions on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. The Samaritans also created the Community Birthday Calendar, now nearly three decades old, as a service project to provide funds for outreach. The Samaritans honor high school graduates with gifts and a reception.   All school-aged youth are honored in June with a reception and a booklet highlighting their school year accomplishments. The Samaritans’ motto sums up their purpose: “Hands of Service, Hearts of Love.”
