At St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, we answer our Lord's call to pray, reconcile, and offer help and hope to those in need.

The Feeding Program

A concerned group of parishioners met in 1988 to solicit ideas regarding a program to feed the hungry in the East End area.  It was decided that there was a great need and that the congregation would fund this effort.  Mrs. Doris Watson chaired the Outreach Commission to seek funding and plan meals.  The program not only provides a satisfying hot meal, but also a pleasant atmosphere where our guests can dine and be treated with kindness, respect, and dignity. The program feeds approximately 80 to 125 adults and children on the second through the fourth Saturday of the month.  Members of the congregation along with members of civic and social groups, and students volunteer to prepare and serve meals, record and seat our guests, and clean up.
